Auditions for The Hartford Chorale’s 2011-2012 40th Anniversary Season
The Hartford Chorale, the region’s principal symphonic chorus, announces new-member auditions for the second half of our exciting celebratory season. to be held at St. James’s Episcopal Church, 1018 Farmington Avenue, West Hartford on Saturday January 14, 2012, 10:00 am - 1:00 pm.
We are looking for qualified singers who can accurately and independently prepare music, read music well, and commit to a significant number of rehearsals and concerts during our multi-concert season. The Chorale’s season runs from early September through early June and the Chorale performs with the Hartford Symphony Orchestra two more times this season. Rehearsals are held on Monday nights from 7:15-10:00 p.m. at St. James’s Episcopal Church in West Hartford. An accompanist will be provided.

The Hartford Chorale, the region’s principal symphonic chorus and frequent performer with the Hartford Symphony Orchestra, annually presents The Winter Conclaves, a series of events that serve as enrichment for the Chorale membership and as outreach to the greater Hartford community.
A Preview of the Verdi Requiem will be held at St. James’s Episcopal Church, 1018 Farmington Avenue, West Hartford, Monday, January 16, 2012, 7:15 p.m. – 9:15 p.m.
Hartford Chorale Music Director Richard Coffey will present an engaging preview of the glories that lie ahead for the Chorale’s presentation of this masterpiece, under the direction of Dr. Edward Bolkovac of the Hartt School on March16, 2012 in the Cathedral of St. Joseph, Hartford. On that occasion, the choral forces include, in addition to the Hartford Chorale, the choral department of the Hartt School, the New Haven Chorale, and the Hartford Symphony Orchestra. The event is in honor of the 50th anniversary of the building of the cathedral. This presentation on January 16, 2012 will include some listening and some singing. Bring your copies of the score in order to enhance this mid-winter experience.

Back by popular demand, enjoy another evening of conversation, dialogue, and listening to live renderings of beloved hits from America's popular musical heritage, one of last year’s most popular Conclave events. Colin McEnroe, NPR's live-wire, weekday showman, and lover of American music, and “side-kick” and accompanist Steve Metcalf, for more than twenty years music critic for the Hartford Courant and now on the faculty of the Hartt School, will bring their humor-filled and insightful talents to us. Those attending will be invited to sing-along now and then! Word-sheets will be provided.
