Fairfield County Chorale
Americana
Fairfield County Chorale Celebrates Great American Music with Americana
The Fairfield County Chorale brings their 100 voices to the unique tradition of American choral music featuring selections by Copland, Lauridsen, Whitacre, Hogan, and Connecticut's own Charles Ives, as well as, music from choral traditions such as spirituals and shape note singing.
Stylistic diversity is the foundation of the concert: from the rousing patriotism of Connecticut composer Charles Ives; Aaron Copland's beautiful songbook, "Old American Songs;" Morten Lauridsen's mystical, "O Magnum Mysterium;" current choral music superstars Eric Whitacre’s "Lux Aurumque,"and Randall Thompson‘s "Alleluia," to the rich spirituals of Moses Hogan featuring "Motherless Child" and Nigerian-born Fela Sowande's "Heaven Bells are Ringin'".

CONCORA: Connecticut Choral Artists
J.S. Bach's St John Passion
CONCORA presents the St John Passion with members of the Hartford Symphony.
In this imaginative presentation of Bach’s earliest Passion setting, we highlight the “play within a play” structure of the work by using some of the singers to reenact the crowd scenes while the rest of the choir functions as a Greek chorus, commenting on the action. CONCORA is joined by members of the Hartford Symphony for this masterpiece, one of Bach’s most dramatic and powerful works.
Soloists include Matthew Anderson as the Evangelist, Stephan Barnicle, and Steven Small as Jesus.
Venue: Sunday, March 20 at 4 PM
Immanuel Congregational Church
10 Woodland Street, Hartford
