Connecticut Master Chorale

"Duke Ellington's Sacred Concert" plus "American Rhapsody" by Z. Randall Stroope

Tina Johns Heidrich, Conductor. Accompanied by the Connecticut Master Chorale Brass and Jazz Bands

From 1966 to 1974, Duke Ellington and his Big Band Orchestra toured the United States and Europe to great acclaim with his remarkable Three Sacred Concerts. This arrangement draws together the best pieces of all three concerts into a single work, recreating what Ellington called "the most important thing I have ever done".

Also on the program is Z. Randall Stroope's "An American Rhapsody". Dr. Stroope assembled this creative song cycle to celebrate our American heartland with distinctive music. It is a stimulating medley underscoring the significant contribution America has made to music using Copland's 'the Promise of Living' as the flagship theme.

Venue: 3:00pm
First Congregational Church of Danbury

Danbury, CT 06810
