Fairfield County Chorale

September Sing

Featuring selections from Verdi Requiem and Faure Requiem. The audience is the choir at this event.

On Sunday September 11, 2016 at 4PM The Fairfield County Chorale will kick off its 54nd season with A SEPTEMBER SING featuring selections from Verdi Requiem and Faure Requiem at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Southport. In this event the Requiems will be sung under the baton of David Rosenmeyer, Music Director of The Fairfield County Chorale. Maestro Rosenmeyer, in addition to leading the singing, will also offer interesting insights into the history of the composers and the works.
It is open to accomplished singers, people who enjoy singing and anyone who might like to try. Absolutely no experience is necessary. Anyone wishing to listen is also welcome.
Stay for a wine and cheese reception, where you can meet chorale members, chat with our music director, and find out about our upcoming season!
Our 2016-2017 Season will include Verdi's Requiem on March 4, 2017 with the New Haven Symphony Orchestra, as well as Handel Dixit Dominus, Vivaldi Gloria and our traditional Holiday Sing-a-Long on December 11, 2016 and Faure Requiem on May 13, 2017.

Venue: The Trinity Episcopal Church in Southport is at 651 Pequot Avenue, Southport, CT 06890. The Church is 2 blocks south of I-95 at Exit 19.

Tickets: Admission is $10 at the door, music rental is included. A reception will follow the event.

Celebrate the Holiday Season by singing the Christmas Section of Handel’s MESSIAH, plus Hallelujah and Worthy is the Lamb. Non-auditioned Registration-Rehearsal, Mon. Sept. 12, 2016, 7 pm at John Winthrop Middle School, 1 Winthrop Rd. Deep River, 06417, please use the rear entrance. All singers are welcome to join Cappella Cantorum MasterWorks Chorus directed by Barry Asch. Be part of the opportunity to practice and perform MESSIAH, one of the best-known and most frequently performed choral works. Rehearsals are Mondays at 7:30pm. Auditions comprise a straightforward and non-threatening evaluation of musicality, voice quality, range, and music literacy. New singers should be ready to sing any song they feel flatters their voice. Please bring an extra copy of your selection for our pianist.

West Hartford Women's Chorale

West Hartford Women's Chorale Invites New Members

Like to Sing? We'd love to include you!

The Hartford area's ONLY non-audition women's chorale is beginning it's Fall season in a few weeks. West Hartford Women's Chorale performs classical, jazz, and popular music in 3 and 4-part harmony.

We will have two open rehearsals on September 13th and September 20th. These rehearsals are a great opportunity to try us out see if you are interested in joining.

Rehearsals are held on Tuesday nights from 7-9 p.m. at Sedgwick Middle School (128 Sedgwick Rd.) in West Hartford. There is ample, lighted parking.

We welcome ALL women who like to sing, whether beginner or experienced. The ability to read music is not required. We are under the direction of a professional director, and provide lots of encouragement and support for newcomers.

HARTFORD CHORALE NEW MEMBER AUDITIONS

Hartford Chorale, the region’s principal symphonic chorus, announces new-member auditions for our exciting 45th season. Auditions will be held at St. James’s Episcopal Church, 1018 Farmington Avenue, West Hartford on Saturday September 17, 2016 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm and Monday, September 19 from 6:30 pm -9:30 pm. An accompanist will be provided.
We are looking for qualified singers who can accurately and independently prepare music, read music well, and commit to a significant number of rehearsals and concerts during our multi-concert season.
Our 2016-2017 season includes performances of:
• Grand and Glorious Opera Choruses: in collaboration with Opera Theater of Connecticut, the Hartford Chorale presents an array of well-known choruses, arias and ensemble pieces conducted by Maestro Richard Coffey. Twin performances on Saturday, November 20 (7:30 pm) at Emanuel Synagogue in West Hartford and Sunday, November 21 (3:00 pm) at the Morgan School Gagnon Auditorium in Clinton, CT.
• Verdi’s Requiem with Fairfield County Chorale and the New Haven Symphony Orchestra, Maestro William Boughton conducting on Thursday, March 2 (7:30 pm). Performed in the magnificent acoustics of Yale’s Woolsey Hall.
• Letter from Italy, 1944: in collaboration with the Greater Middletown Chorale and the Hartford Symphony, we will present this moving semi-staged, full length oratorio by Sarah Meneely-Kyder on May 4 (7:30 pm) in the Mortensen Hall, The Bushnell.
• Choral Fantasy and Mystical Songs- part of the Hartford Symphony Masterworks Series, under the direction of the HSO’s dynamic new assistant conductor, Adam Kerry Boyles. Concert performances Friday, June 9 and Saturday, June 10 (8:00 pm) and Sunday, June 11 (3:00 pm) in the Belding Theater, The Bushnell.

Rehearsals, which start on September 26, 2017, are held on Monday nights from 7:15 pm to 10:00 pm at St. James’s Episcopal Church in West Hartford.
