Cappella Cantorum

Holiday Celebration

Works by Bach, Rutter and R. Vaughan Williams

The Cappella Cantorum Masterworks Chorus will present a Holiday Celebration Saturday, Dec. 2, 7 p.m.at the First Congregational Church of Madison on the Green, Meetinghouse Lane (off Route 1), Madison. Start the holiday season with a joyful evening of music. Cappella's new director Simon Holt of the Salt Marsh Opera will conduct the chorus, professional soloists and orchestra in the performance of Bach's Cantata #140 (Sleepers, Wake!), Rutter's "Gloria" and Ralph Vaughan Williams' "Fantasia on Christmas Carols." Christmas carols will be sung at the end of the program.

Winter Concert

the theme is "Love Thy Neighbor"

Seasonal pieces include Hava Nageela, White Christmas and Joseph Dearest, Joseph Mine. Songs about love include "I Wish You Love" by Kirby Shaw, "We Share the Same Dream" by Jerry Ray,"Somebody to Love" by Freddie Mercury, and "Seasons of Love" from "Rent" arranged by Roger Emerson. Also, "You'll Never Walk Alone" Arranged by Johnny Mann, and "This Land is Your Land" by woody Guthrie.

The 90 member Waterbury Chorale under the baton of Maestro Joseph Jacovino, with accompanist Jenny LI, Soprano soloist Louise Fauteaux, and The Waterbury Chorale Festival Orchestra will present two performances of John Rutter's Magnificat along with a mixture of holiday favorites such as Carol to the King, Festival Gloria, Sing Noel, Patapan, Personent Hodie, Winter's Heart, Have Yourself A Merry Christmas, and Ring Those Christmas Bells. Fairfield County Chorale

Fairfield County Chorale Presents Handel's Messiah

A rarely performed, complete Handel's Messiah

Celebrate the holidays with a Sunday afternoon concert of Handel's Messiah, December 10th at 3:00pm Norwalk Concert Hall, Norwalk, CT.

“It's is rare opportunity to experience the baroque masterpiece in its entirety, including its exhilarating Hallelujah chorus,” said music director, David Rosenmeyer.

The concert features the 100+ voices of the Fairfield County Chorale, their Orchestra, and four dazzling young soloists.

Soloists to be featured are soprano Pascale Beaudin, countertenor Gon Halevi, tenor Nils Neubert, and bass Andrew Cummings.

The Fairfield County Chorale is now in its 55th season of presenting great choral works in southwestern Connecticut. Its mission is to perform a broad range of choral music for the benefit of the community, and to champion the appreciation of excellence in choral literature. The Chorale is comprised of over 100 voices, and every concert is presented with a professional orchestra and soloists. The FCC has presented a number of local, U.S., and world premieres, and has appeared at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center in New York, and the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. A recent partnership has brought The Chorale to perform regularly with the New Haven Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of William Boughton.

Farmington Valley Chorale

Star of Wonder

Farmington Valley Chorale conducted by Dr. Ellen Gilson Voth

The program explores the traditional story of the Wise Men’s journey to the Christ Child through different musical and cultural lenses. Second half features Menotti's Amahl and the Night Visitors in partnership with Hartford Opera Theater.

Venue: Performances take place on Friday, December 15th at 7:30 pm and Saturday, December 16th at 3:00 pm. Both performances will be at First Church of Christ, 689 Hopmeadow Street (Route 10) in Simsbury.

Tickets: Donation is $20, full-time students are free.
