Mx Hospital Vocal Chords Accepting New Members

Recruiting new members

If you like to sing, consider joining the Middlesex Hospital Vocal Chords!. No auditions necessary! Just a love of music, singing and a commitment to rehearse every Tuesday night. Singing with a group has been scientifically proven to be a natural anti-depressant, to lower stress levels and anxiety, to improve mental alertness and increase social fulfillment. Don't miss out on a truly life changing experience!

New members in all voice parts are welcome. Rehearsals start on August 27 at 6:45 pm at St. Francis Church, Msgr. Fox Parish Hall, 10 Elm St. in Middletown in preparation for our annual holiday concert taking place on December 8th at Portland High School. You do not need to be a hospital employee or a resident of Middletown to join.. Current members are from all walks of life and come from various towns in Central and Southern Connecticut. We will be accepting new members until September 17th.

The Vocal Chords have been entertaining audiences for 30 years with a wide variety of musical selections from Broadway hits to classical pieces-promoting their mission to lift spirits, relieve stress and heal souls with music. Proceeds from the concerts are given back to the community in the form of scholarships given to high school seniors pursuing a career in nursing or music. To date, a total of $74,000 has been awarded thanks to our Fall Patron Drive and loyal followers. The Vocal Chords also give of their time to sing at various community activities such as the annual Hospice Service at Mercy High School and the Veterans Day Dinner at Portland High School.

Come Sing with the Shoreline Chorale

Come sing with the Chorale as we begin our 38th season! The fall concert will feature a wide range of choral music from sacred to secular and from Baroque to Contemporary. Our special guest choir will be the Guilford High School Voices under the direction of Kevin Buno


Shoreline Chorale is a non auditioned choir with a long tradition of quality music making in the Shoreline area. Whether you are a novice singer looking for their first choral experience or a veteran looking for a new quality choral experience Shoreline is the group for you!


Opening rehearsal is Wednesday, August 28, from 7-9 p.m. Rehearsal will be held at St Andrews in Madison
