GMChorale to Present Vivaldi “Gloria” and Sedek “The Four Seasons”

GMChorale will present a unique pairing of baroque and contemporary music with Vivaldi's “Gloria,” composed c.1716, performed alongside Sedek's “The Four Seasons: A Cantata,” composed in 2015

On November 13, 2022 at 4 pm, GMChorale will present a unique pairing of baroque and contemporary music with Antonio Vivaldi's “Gloria,” composed c.1716 in Venice, performed alongside Martin Sedek's “The Four Seasons: A Cantata,” composed in 2015 in the United States. The latter is set to sonnets, translated into English by the composer, which Vivaldi originally wrote to accompany his instrumental work: “The Four Seasons.” Audiences will be delighted to hear the baroque and contemporary styles in conversation and juxtaposed against one another for a uniquely GMChorale musical event. The concert will be held at the Santo Fragilio Performing Arts Center at Middletown High School, 200 La Rosa Lane, Middletown CT, 06457. Tickets are available at www.gmchorale.org/event. Another Octave/Connecticut Women's Chorus

We Got Issues

Join Another Octave as we face issues personal and political

In uncertain times, music gives voice to struggles for peace and justice. Another Octave’s fall concert — We Got Issues! — features music of power and protest in a multi-media presentation that speaks to our lives.
Songs by writers such as Bob Geldof, Pat Humphries and Holly Near, a musical setting of poetry by Maya Angelou, spirituals and folk tunes, contemporary anthems and some twists on Broadway repertoire will move you, inspire you, make you angry and sometimes even make you laugh.
Whether singing about caring for our only planet, the ravages of racism, or the struggle for reproductive justice, Another Octave will bring its signature harmonies and inventive programming to We Got Issues!

Directed by Melinda Walwer and assisted by Kris Montgomery, our 30-voice chorus regularly performs all over the state and has traveled nationally. Since its first show in 1990, Another Octave: Connecticut Women’s Chorus has been engaging audiences around Connecticut and out of state with energetic performances and an eclectic repertoire that includes standard concert pieces as well as traditional and contemporary music reflecting women’s lives.

Unitarian Society of New Haven
