Fairfield County Chorale

Holiday Baroque

Ring in the holidays with the Fairfield County Chorale.

“The orchestra, with its timpani and trumpets, our 100-plus voices, and five talented young soloists gives full expression to this celebratory and exuberant music,” said Music Director, David Rosenmeyer.

Soloists to be featured are sopranos Carla Cottini and Anna Lenti, mezzo soprano Kate Maroney, tenor Stephen Beigner, and baritone Joshua South. The full program features George Frideric Handel's youthful and orchestral Dixit Dominus along with his dramatic coronation anthem, Zadok the Priest; Antonio Vivaldi's celebratory masterpiece Gloria; J.S. Bach's Jauchzet Frohlocket (from his “Christmas Oratorio”) plus a selection of holiday songs.

“We have started a new tradition of inviting our audience to sing along with us to holiday music. What a wonderful experience it was the past two years, and this year we promise a few surprises,” said Rosenmeyer.

The Fairfield County Chorale is now in its 54th season of presenting great choral works in southwestern Connecticut. Its mission is to perform a broad range of choral music for the benefit of the community, and to champion the appreciation of excellence in choral literature. The Chorale is comprised of over 100 voices, and every concert is presented with a professional orchestra and soloists. The FCC has presented a number of local, U.S., and world premieres, and has appeared at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center in New York, and the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. A recent partnership has brought the Chorale to perform regularly with the New Haven Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of William Boughton. Together with the NHSO, the Chorale will perform Verdi’s operatic masterpiece, the Messa da Requiem, on March 4, 2017.

Venue: Sunday, December 11, 3pm, Norwalk Concert Hall, 125 East Avenue, Norwalk, CT

Tickets: Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door. $5 for students. Group rates are available on request.
