Mx Hospital Vocal Chords Spring Concert

“IT’S A GRAND NIGHT FOR SINGING”, Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 7:00pm at Portland High School, 95 High St., Portland, CT.

The Vocal Chords will present their 33rd annual spring concert entitled “IT’S A GRAND NIGHT FOR SINGING” on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 7:00pm at Portland High School, 95 High St., Portland, CT.

SAMUEL TUCKER, our Musical Director, has prepared a performance that will be filled with lightness, lift and bounce. It will definitely appeal to many genres who will be tapping their feet and mouthing the words bringing back memories of when you first heard the songs. ALAN DOUGHERTY, accompanist, will be tickling the ivories to bring his magic to the pieces.
The concert will include The Fifth Dimension’s “Aquarius, Let the Sunshine In”, Freddie Mercury “Bohemian Rhapsody”, Elton John “Rocketman”, Neil Diamond “I’m a Believer” from Shrek, Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, Crosby, Stills & Nash “Suite: Judy Blue Eyes”, Billy Joel “Tell Her About It” and “What a Wonderful World” and “For The Beauty of the Earth” (John Rutter).
In addition, we will be presenting our scholarships to graduating students from Middlesex County who will be pursuing a career in nursing or music.

On Sunday, April 30, 2023, at 4:00 p.m., at the Santo Fragilio Performing Arts Center at Middletown High School, come and experience the magnificence of Johannes Brahms' Ein Deutsches Requiem (A German Requiem) performed by the GMChorale. This timeless masterwork is a non-liturgical requiem that focuses on comforting the living through scripture and the Psalms. GMChorale will join forces with the Elm City Girls’ Choir, Orchestra New England, and nationally acclaimed soloists Sherezade Panthaki and Mark Womack , to create a treasured musical experience to be remembered for years to come.
