Fairfield County Chorale

Choral Hot & Cool

The Fairfield County Chorale is thrilled to announce an extraordinary concert experience featuring the high-energy tango rhythms of Argentinian composer Martín Palmeri’s Misa a Buenos Aires, selections from Ola Gjeilo and a world premiere by Evan Fein featuring the poetry of Faith Shearin on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Norwalk Concert Hall.

“Misa a Buenos Aires (also known as ‘Misatango’) combines the unique rhythms, harmonies, and beguiling melodies of Argentinian Tango with the traditional liturgical text of the Catholic Mass,” says Fairfield County Chorale music director, David Rosenmeyer.

The “Misatango” concert will feature mezzo-soprano Malena Dayen, as well as Shinjoo Cho on bandoneón and, returning to our stage, members of the Norwalk High School Senior Chorus, music director Steven Oliveri.

In addition to the “Misatango,” the concert will feature selections from Ola Gjeilo, known for his lush harmonies and delicate melodies transporting listeners to a realm of ethereal beauty. And a World Premiere dedicated to the Fairfield County Chorale and David Rosenmeyer by Evan Fein featuring poetry by Faith Shearin. Fein, presents a distinct musical voice that seamlessly blends elements of classical and contemporary styles, creating a captivating and thought-provoking musical journey.

The Norwalk Concert Hall, known for its superb acoustics, serves as the perfect venue for this momentous occasion. Located at 125 East Avenue, Norwalk, CT, the Concert Hall offers an atmosphere that enhances the auditory and visual experience for concertgoers.

This is the Fairfield County Chorale’s 61st season of presenting great choral works in southwestern Connecticut. Its mission is to champion the appreciation of excellence in choral literature, performing a broad range of choral music for the benefit of the community. Connecticut Choral Society Inc.

Valley Music Series Presents MESSIAH SING

... a tour de force with the Connecticut Choral Society

Please join us for our annual MESSIAH SING on Sunday, March 24, 2024 at 3:00 PM. Under the direction of Eric Dale Knapp, this sing-in of Händel’s Messiah (Parts II & III) is a tour de force with our friends at the Valley Music Series of Valley Presbyterian Church in Brookfield, CT. Whether you’re a singer or a classical music aficionado our annual sing-ins are for you!

This is a great opportunity for all singers to join the chorus for the day; or for classical music lovers to come enjoy an afternoon of music! It's also a great way to learn more about CCS and how you can join or help with our community outreach.

If you enjoy the magnificent music of Händel, sing with us; or come and listen to one of his greatest choral works of all time. We look forward to performing this masterpiece again this year. If you came last year, you know what a glorious event this will be. If this is your first time, you're in for a very special experience.
