CONCORA: Connecticut Choral Artists
CONCORA: Past, Present and Future
CONCORA was founded as the South Church Choral Society by Artistic Director Emeritus Richard M. Coffey fifty years ago. In the final concert of the season, we celebrate those five decades in a variety of ways. To kick off the concert, we welcome back Maestro Coffey and organist Larry Allen, for many years the choir’s exceptional accompanist, for a performance of the inaugural piece first sung by CONCORA in its debut concert. Celebrating the many multi-talented members of the current choir, the first half then features music composed and conducted by a number of CONCORA singers. In the second half, Artistic Director Chris Shepard leads CONCORA and younger singers from area high schools and colleges in pieces that represent each decade of the choir’s half-century history, including a new work by Martin A. Sedek. Come and celebrate this important milestone for Connecticut’s choral community.

GMChorale
GMChorale to Present Spring Concert on April 28
On Sunday, April 28, 2024, at 4:00 p.m., experience one of the region’s most anticipated symphonic-choral events, as GMChorale presents Brahms’ “Schicksalslied” and Schubert’s “Mass in E-Flat, No. 6.”
On Sunday, April 28, 2024, at 4:00 p.m., come and experience one of the region’s most anticipated symphonic-choral events. GMChorale’s Spring Mainstage concert at the Santo Fragilio Performing Arts Center at Middletown High School, will feature Brahms’ “Schicksalslied” (Song of Destiny) - which, in many ways, is like his “Requiem” - and Schubert’s “Mass in E-Flat, No. 6,” his final and most mature composition. This is one of the great Mass settings of all time, and is representative of early-Romanticism with a nod back to the Renaissance and Baroque eras. Under the baton of Artistic Director, Joseph D’Eugenio, GMChorale will join forces with Alchemy, Saecula Singers and Alumnae of the Elm City Girls’ Choir, professional soloists and Orchestra New England. For more information and tickets go to www.gmchorale.org/events.
Venue: Middletown High School, 200 La Rosa Lane, Middletown, CT
